  1. I am not surprised at all of this trend. Just this year I have begun to watch a lot of movies and tv shows from Netflix. This is just a really simple way to enjoy entertaining shows. I like the streming idea better because after you watch a show once or twice you won't need a hard copy such as a movie or DVD.
I think a group of people getting to together to watch a show and wanting a variety of choices is part of the social implications. It seems much cooler if you can have your friends over and log onto Netflix or Hulu from your tv and browse through a lot of different shows.

  2. I think that the trend of watching movies online is not so bad. I personally would rather go to the store and buy a movie so I can pick it up and see if it looks like a good movie or not.
I think that the social implications of this trend are that people will be using electronics more. A person could search for a movie on their phone or computer and watch it right then and there. If the movie that someone wanted was not in the store then it could be found somewhere on the internet.

  3. The trend is that people are turning to online viewing of DVDs and tv shows instead of going out and buying the physical copies. I am actually one of these people, I have started watching many tv shows on my Xbox with Netflix. With Netflix you avoid those commercials and you can watch whatever you would like, whenever you would like to watch it. I think it is great, but the problem with everything online is not having something to hold and know that is where it is. Sometimes computers crash and if you don't have things backed up and such, you could possibly lose all that info. So there are pluses and minuses with going online, unlike with anything you choose to do. There will always be the negative to doing it.

  4. I expected this trend to happen sometime. It is so much easier to just stream movies from sites like Netflix. The video quality is also pretty good, although it may not be as good as a blu ray disc. I prefer to watch blu ray discs, but I do not have Netflix at the moment. I enjoy the crystal clear quality of a blu ray, but I have been to some friends houses who have Netflix and I really do like being able to watch almost any movie at any time. I think the social implications of this would be fewer and fewer people will buy hard copies of movies and instead watch everything online. This would hurt the movie business, as films don't generate as much money when they are viewed online. However, people might actually watch more movies because they have an easier access to all of them.

  5. The trend is not very surprising, though i dont generally watch my movies online i use netflix and hulu to watch tv. I hardly ever use the TV to watch satelitte or cable instead i would rather wait till its all on netflix and watch the series straight through. I still will go out and buy the hard copy of a movie if it is a good movie. The movie business is going to have to compensate for this trend and come up with a new system.
